There’s good news and there’s great news. The good news is that we have managed to construct a route devoid of the toughest climbs within the forest – home to the famed Castle Coch. The great news is that this venue offers wonderful woodland, a sculpture trail and some amazing panoramic vistas. You’ll enjoy a running high for sure!
One of our favourites! Forest Farm is a country park tucked away close to Whitchurch and provides an interesting, flat and beautiful trail journey taking in sections alongside the River Taff and the now disused Whitchurch and Llandaff Canal. Follow the evolution of water power as you pass an historic water wheel and a more modern HEP station! A meandering trail route. We say, let your mind wander too. Enjoy!
You’ll be going “flat out” on this one! But don’t worry. This refers to the terrain as you enjoy the wonderful trails, largely alongside the River Taff. Heritage and history combine as the route touches a castle and cathedral along the way. There’s caffeine available too at a conveniently placed post-run park café.
Created from the remnants of limestone quarries, Cosmeston Lakes Country Park hosts this gorgeous and tranquil SixPack route. Both the lakes and the meadows found at Cosmeston are divided by the main footpath, Mile Road, that runs through the centre of the Country Park. Excellent pre- and post-run facilities. This route will deliver a smile every mile!
A varied and rambling route that takes you past the lovely little Pentwyn Lake then transports you through an underpass to the riverside trails of the River Rhymney. The mainly excellent, flat paths and lovely river vistas will help you ‘go with the flow’ on this route.
The elegant seaside town of Penarth showcases its’ Victorian heritage and coastal splendour. Largely flat, there’s a testing parkland finish to keep you honest after the glorious seaside vistas of your homebound return. Beforehand, your urban escape takes you out of town on the surfaced disused railway line. That’s the line out!
