So much variety packed into a small area and relatively short run. From lovely parkland and an excellent cycling facility named after local Olympic Champion – Steven Burke – through canal towpath and historic locks, to open fields (mind the sheep!) and beck-side paths and historic buildings. Then afterwards you’ll be able to pop into one of the lovely cafes or bars in Barrowford for great refreshments.
Watery wonder on this cracking run that will take you past some hidden gems. Starting and finishing by the famous Foulridge Tunnel – a mile section through the hills that’s the longest tunnel to allow passage of canoes. Then you run alongside the shores of two reservoirs established to service the canal as it passes the highest point of it’s route between Liverpool and Leeds, before an interesting ascent coming out to wonderful views all around this part of Pendle and into N Yorkshire. Pass some beautiful properties before passing the historic County Brook Mill and back along the canal.
A stunning Elizabethan country house and estate forms the arena for this wonderful run that then follows the river Calder through open country, all to the backdrop and sounds of the Premier League players of Burnley FC at their training ground. This run is neatly all rural, with a delightful finish through the woods of the Gawthorpe country estate.
A fantastic run around this popular former estate of the Towneley family whose legacy include a beautiful hall, gardens and gallery. You’ll come across clever creative landscape artworks, the odd folly, even a landscaped tunnel, woods and open fields. Plus a popular café to chill in afterwards.
Steeped in history, including associations to the Bronte Sisters, you’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views on this multi-terrain exploration around Wycoller Country Park. Your undulating journey might lead to wuthering heights too, before the rewarding sanctuary of the village café to contemplate this rewarding scenic route.
A cracking 10k circuit over a landscape montage of industrial heritage, ingenuity and beautiful countryside. A rural run taking in canal, old railway lines, new cycle paths, footpaths, streams and wonderful views of Pendle Hill.
