Wendy Magner created the Nottingham SixPack challenge. We caught up with her to ask her about her favourite route.
“I have to say I found the experience of designing the routes for the Nottingham SixPack Challenge enlightening and exciting.
Having studied maps and aerial photos you think you have discovered the perfect SixPack route but the real test is the actual venue reconnaissance! Some routes never make it past this stage, but when the jigsaw pieces all come together it is very satisfying.
I particularly enjoyed discovering the Leaky Hollow 5K at Cotgrave Country Park as it surpassed all expectations. Established in the late 1990’s, it is the legacy of the former Cotgrave Colliery. As I explored, I soon realised this was a venue that ticked the SixPack boxes! Great surfaced paths, lovely woodland trails, peaceful lakes, a diversity of wild life, undulating but not too hilly and a partially restored canal and historic lock feature. However the deal was sealed when I emerged from the trees to be thrilled by the stunning panorama of Nottingham and the Trent Valley.
What better way to complete our Nottingham SixPack!“
